FAQ

We’re upfront about our product and will answer all questions and concerns you may have pre- or post-purchase. The most popular questions are listed below for your convenience. Most questions are about the LM500 Flashlight. Just click on the question, and you’ll be taken to the answer below.

What does IPX4 mean?

IP is an International Protection rating that states how protected your product is against water and dust particles. Since most products are not 100% impervious to water intrusion, they are rated based upon their resistance. In the case of our TactX LM500 Flashlight, it’s been rated IPX4 which means that it is protected from water splashing against the enclosure from any direction. So, you can operate this flashlight in a pretty bad storm or hurricane without any worries!

Beware of exaggerated claims of water-resistance. In the flashlight industry, Most resellers will bump their IP product rating to increase sales, making for an inferior or misleading product. This causes a potentially dangerous situation for customers who heavily rely on their product.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes and No. We offer flat shipping on most orders over $50. From time to time, we issue limited time only coupon codes on LM500 Kits and other gear items, so keep checking back.

Do you sell other accessories for flashlights?

Does the TactX LM500 include a warranty?

All of our products are individually inspected through a Quality Assurance Test (QAT), before being shipped from our facility. Returns for all other reasons may be accepted upon approval, but the customer will be responsible for 100% of the return shipping costs. My LM500 LED Flashlight tends to get hot. Is this normal?

Yes. Especially with a newly charged battery. This is a normal occurrence in most high lumen-output Tactical LED Flashlights. If you leave the light on full power without touching it for more than a half-hour, it will get pretty hot. It’s important to try not to let this happen, as it could damage the battery or circuitry in the flashlight. Never put a tactical flashlight back in its case or next to flammable materials during or immediately after use. Give it a moment to cool down first before putting back in the storage case. The flashlight actually cools very quickly. Tip: Wear thin leather work gloves if operating the light for long periods of time.

Should I worry about my Lithium-Ion Battery Exploding?

Lithium-Ion battery explosions are a very rare occurrence, but do happen from time to time. Most causes are due to poor maintenance, improper shipping and handling, or misuse. We believe it’s important to educate our customers whether they purchase a battery or not. So, we include an 18650 Lithium-Ion Battery Maintenance Guide with every product we sell. The guide has information about storage, charging, maintenance, proper means of disposal, and other valuable resources with more information. The short answer to this question is yes, but when armed with knowledge, you can drastically reduce the risk of a Lithium discharge.

My battery is fully charged and properly inserted in the flashlight, why is the light not working?

In most cases, this is an easy fix! First, make sure the battery is inserted in the flashlight with the positive button head facing the front of the flashlight. Next, make sure there is nothing interfering with the battery connectors. Then, check that the Tail End Cap is securely hand fastened. In most situations, this tends to be the main culprit! If the light is still not working, please contact us for additional troubleshooting and possible warranty service.

Is it okay if I use my own 18650 battery and charger?

Yes, but because the Manufacturer’s Warranty is limited to TactX-brand flashlights and accessory products, any introduction of third-party batteries and chargers would most likely void the 1-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty. We will do our best to work with customers who have used their own batteries and chargers in cases where these items may not have caused an issue to occur. The Manufacturer’s Limited Warranty does not cover battery leaks and discharges that result in the damage of the flashlight, as these errors can occur at the fault of the customer. TactX Flashlights, LLC will not be held liable or responsible for damage and injury resulting from battery leaks, discharges, or explosions.

My Direct Plug-in Charger’s LED light is slowly turning from red to orange. What does this mean?

The Direct Plug-in Charger takes about 8-10 hrs to fully charge a battery from 10% to 100% charge status. As it nears the end of the charge cycle, the LED light on the charger will slowly turn from red, to orange, then turn green within the final remaining 1/2hr-1hr time period. WARNING: Never turn or twist the charger connector around inside the charging socket of the flashlight during charging cycles. It will misread the charge cycle and damage the socket inside the flashlight.
